Description

This seminar provides health and fitness professionals with a greater knowledge and understanding of how to work with individuals with Metabolic Syndrome (MetS), who may have health complications that must be managed during structured exercise training. Considering that the prevalence of metabolic syndrome is systematically increasing worldwide, personal trainers and exercise physiologists working in a real-world gym setting need to address several physiological and psychological factors associated with this health condition. Thus, simple assessments, smart warm-up drills, fitness games, partner exercises, progressions and modifications for all primal movements, coaching and cueing techniques will be presented aiming to blend science and application through an interactive case study. The aim of this seminar is the integration of science-based information and hands-on coaching skills for previously inactive individuals with metabolic syndrome, supporting health and fitness professionals to apply customized and effective communication and exercise training strategies in clients demonstrating impaired glucose and lipid metabolism, raised blood pressure and visceral obesity.

President of Occupational Therapy Department

Description:

The public health problems caused by physical inactivity, affecting both children and adults, have been seriously documented in recent years. These include the onset of numerous diseases, a reduction in life expectancy, negative psychological effects, and a decline in quality of life. It is estimated that health threats affecting nearly 500 million people by 2030 can be significantly reduced through increased physical activity. The global economic cost of health problems related to physical inactivity is estimated at approximately $47.6 billion annually. Despite efforts by international and national organizations to address this issue, initiatives remain insufficient.

This seminar will present initiatives that should be undertaken by scientific organizations, such as universities, as well as examples for designing exercise programs from sports science for all ages, based on the guidelines of the World Health Organization.

Emphasis will be placed on experiential activities to address modern problems that increase the risks of physical inactivity, such as addiction to mobile phones, problematic internet use, managing a sedentary lifestyle during work, and organizing daily life with physical activities. Emphasis will also be placed on organizing lifestyle habits through physical activities aimed at protecting the environment. It combines elements from various disciplines, such as choreology, as it involves the study of movement patterns and the specific characteristics of different dance genres, and movement learning, as it examines how students learn and improve their dance movements. The aim of the seminar is to understand the nature of movement and muscle function during dance in order to achieve the development of body awareness, improve the dancer’s expressiveness, technique and performance. In addition, the aim is to explore how kinesiology is applied to different dance genres, such as traditional, contemporary, ballet, etc.
